Am-Lul It Girl
"I'm not gonna tell you what to wear, I'm gonna show you how I wear it" -- Gala Gonzalez Gala Gonzalez's effortless style, documented in her virtual fashion diary Inside Am-lul's Closet, has made her an instant hit in the fashion set, and she documents her life as a member of the bloggerati in a picture perfect manner that all at once inspires, intrigues and makes you want to bust out the credit cards. A Londoner by way of Spain, Gala is a socialite, blogger, fashion designer, creative director and sometimes DJ who has the type of hyper-hip lifestyle that will make you drool. Oh and did we mention that she's drop dead gorgeous? [caption id="attachment_7149" align="aligncenter" width="533" caption="Theysken's love affair"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7151" align="aligncenter" width="639" caption="Remain Nameless"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7152" align="aligncenter" width="533" caption="Knit picks"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7154" align="aligncenter" width="579" caption="From the street to Style Hunter"][/caption] Gala has been documenting her madcap approach to fashion since 2005 when she began a Fotoblog account and started sharing her eclectic outfits and style setter selections. With the popularity she achieved, it was clear that she need to move into a medium that would allow her to express even more -- Fotoblog is purely for images, not written word. And thus Inside Am-lul's Closet was born. Finding content was simple -- Gala graduated from the University of the Arts London with a BA in fashion and then continued to become the Creative Director for Linea U by Adolfo Dominguez, her uncle. She has held onto the position ever since, and expanded her work with Dominguez in 2009 by putting together her own collection Music Collection. And Gala's style definitely has mass market appeal. Part lightweight grunge//rocker, part happy hippy child, she has documented her style evolution within the blog and effectively demonstrated how to incorporate pieces from all different genres into one amalgam of quirky fun fashion. She describes her personal style as "Risky Londoner, but elegant," and credits her natural elegance to her homeland of Spain. While comparing English vs Spanish styles she comments, "the Spanish are progressing very rapidly and if we compare our style to that of the English, we are more elegant and classical, so we can say that we are well-dressed. We have a “natural elegance”, which is evident when a Spanish person is outside their country." [caption id="attachment_7144" align="aligncenter" width="639" caption="Gala label crush: STYLE STALKER"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7145" align="aligncenter" width="639" caption="Louis Vuitton afterparty"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7148" align="aligncenter" width="639" caption="Must Haves"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7150" align="aligncenter" width="605" caption="Editorial for Spanish Vogue"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_7161" align="aligncenter" width="639" caption="15th Anniversary Uno de 50"][/caption] This natural elegance that she speaks of has proven to be a serious hit with her readers. She gets around 15,000 hits per day and is being accessed from countries around the world. Her popularity has allowed her to keep building her little fashion empire and in 2010 she was featured in Loewe's campaign Leather Icons with other super cool style kids Peaches Geldof, Louis Simonon, Tricia Ronane, and Ben Cobb. She's had modeling gigs for H&M, Mango and Corello and they love her in Brazil! She's been the face of both Guerreiro and AG. The media really just eats her up and she's graced the pages of over twenty major international style rags including Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire. She frequently collaborates with Spanish Vogue, who in 2009 branded her as their national It Girl. Such a fabulous life she leads! The Vine describes her as "warm, hardworking and matter of fact about the fashion circus and her fabulous high life." When asked about her favorite things to do, she keeps it simple, explaining that she's a massive cinema fan (at least two films per week), loves going on long walks with her main man (an itty bitty pup) and spending hours in London's V&A Museum. Her favorite article of clothing? A Balenciaga striped tee (at least it was in 2009.) It's not hard to see why she's so easily transitioned from fashion blogger to media starlet, especially with the intensely apparent personality and enthusiasm that shines so brightly through her posts. It's so much fun to find a fashion blogger who is so skilled at finding and introducing the coolest of the cool, but is still able to retain a humble air. Because really, when you are too cool for school, it must be hard not to act like it.
